Job Description

Morton is seeking a Technical Writer for our client in Richmond, VA. This role is responsible for developing high-quality documentation, system manuals, release notes, and online help resources for General District systems. The ideal candidate has strong technical writing skills, the ability to translate complex technical and business concepts into clear instructional content, and experience collaborating with subject-matter experts, analysts, and trainers.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, write, and maintain high-quality documentation for General District applications
  • Create and update system user manuals, release notes, and online help content
  • Collaborate with business analysts, trainers, and technical staff to ensure accuracy and clarity
  • Translate complex system functionality and statutory business requirements into clear procedural instructions
  • Edit, revise, and proofread documentation for grammar, clarity, consistency, and formatting standards
  • Assist in developing online instructional materials for clerks and judges, including multimedia or interactive content using e-learning authoring tools
  • Ensure documentation meets quality, accessibility, and consistency standards and is ready for publication in the Learning Center

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Three or more years of experience in technical writing, technical communications, information technology, computer science, or a related field
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Demonstrated experience producing technical and software documentation
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to deliver high-quality work consistently
  • Ability to understand complex technical concepts and present them clearly using text and visuals
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and decision-making skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Working knowledge of RoboHelp
  • Willingness to learn tools used to develop online instructional materials

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of Articulate 360 and Colossyan
  • Experience developing online help systems or multimedia instructional content
  • Familiarity with court procedures or case management systems
  • Experience working in a court or judicial environment
