Morton has an immediate need for a Systems Administrator for a customer located in Richmond, Virginia.  

Responsibilities:
 
  • Install, update, and patch financial systems software
  • Technical configuration and setup of financial systems software
  • Migration of enhancements to production and test environments – program code, compiling, automated jobs, Lawson and Hyperion environment changes
  • Enter, maintain, and review change control, service, incident tracking and other data collection systems as appropriate
  • Security administration
  • Review and create documentation necessary for systems support, problem tracking, etc.
  • Create or propose purchase of scripts, reports and other management tools required for the visualization of systems health and stability
  • Provide technical guidance and task management for IT Projects involving the Markel Financial Systems organization
  • Create and maintain compliance roadmap to demonstrate end of life constraints and create plans to remediate
  • Perform on-call production support and troubleshooting assistance for US and UK teams; includes during the day and off-hours
  • Implements and maintains the necessary controls and procedures to cost-effectively protect information systems assets from intentional or inadvertent modification, disclosure, or destruction
  • Provides guidance and direction for the protection of information systems assets to other areas as needed
  • Meet individual objectives and contribute to the achievement of the team’ s overall objectives

 
Qualifications:
 
  • Advanced college degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Business or related work experience/certification
  • 5+ years of relevant general Information Technology experience required or experience in the Insurance Industry
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work with a high degree of independence
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Ability to communicate highly technical information in a business friendly manner
  • Ability to understand business requirements for applications and systems
  • Advanced problem solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others to resolve complex issues with innovative solutions
  • Understanding complex systems interaction for physical, software, and virtual environments; including database, storage, and general systems capacity management
  • Expert level knowledge in at least four of the following areas:
  • Lawson or other Financial ERP systems
  • Hyperion systems
  • Crystal, Cognos or other enterprise reporting systems
  • SQL Server/Oracle Database services
  • Linux or UNIX environment
  • Windows Server products including Windows Active Directory and supporting services TCP/IP, DNS, etc.
  • VMWare Virtual Center Environment
