Position Title:Â Safety Specialist
Location:Â Petersburg, Virginia 23803
Position Status:Â 5-month contract to permanent
Schedule: M-F (7am – 5pm, night shift and overnights are fair game)

Responsibilities:Â Â
- Support their establish safety team and promote a safety focused culture by ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and safety policies.Â
- Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.
- Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
- Facilitates employee training on applicable safety standards.
- Recommends risk reduction strategies.
- Inspects safety equipment; recommends replacement.
- Drafts and implements internal safety standards and policies.
- Investigates accidents to identify causes and/or to determine how such accidents might be prevented in the future.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standardsÂ
- OSHA 500 CERT REQUIRED
- Excellent written and verbal communication skillsÂ
- Experience conducting training.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detailÂ
- Proficient with Microsoft OfficeÂ
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving recordÂ
- Prefer experience working with or inspecting electrical work.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, and crawl.
- Must be able to drive for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to see color.
- Must be able to work in various conditions, including but not limited to extreme heat and cold.Â
- Must be able to work Monday – Friday 7:00AM – 5:00PM; additional work may be required, including some night shift hours.
- Must possess and maintain a satisfactory background record.
- Must be willing to travel out of town as needed.
