Job Description
Position Title: Principal AI Engineer
Location: New York NY (275 7th Ave Suite 2002, New York, NY 10001)
Position Status: Contract 12 Months with Extension
Schedule: on-site 5 days a week
Pay Range: $85.00 to $100.00/hr. (Flexible)

Key Responsibilities
- Architect & Code: Lead the end-to-end design: Data Assets? Ontology/Dual-graph? Financial DSL? LLM/Tool Gateways? Agent? UX. Write clean, production-grade Python.
- Maintain Defensibility: Author ADRs/RFCs and maintain regulatory traceability matrices (T-controls) defensible to compliance and auditors.
- Enforce Quality & Safety: Implement strict capability boundaries, human-approval gates, and immutable audit chains.
- Drive Engineering Excellence: Enforce high testing thresholds (?90% coverage), automated CI quality gates, and comprehensive OTEL observability.
Required Qualifications
- Core Python Mastery: Hands-on experience with FastAPI, asyncio, pytest, type hints, and strict monorepo discipline.
- AI Agent Orchestration: Deep understanding of LLM/tool gateways, SSE & WebSocket streaming, agent-platform contracts, and agent SDKs.
- Responsible AI & Governance: Experience building capability boundaries, approval gates, and audit chains mapped to a graph.
- AI Fluency: Practical mastery of Cursor agent skills, MCP servers, prompt engineering, and CLI automation (GitLab/Jira).
- Testing & Observability: Strong UAT/BDD test discipline (?90% coverage) and OTEL observability (Phoenix, Grafana, structured logging).
- Cloud Platform: Production experience with AWS.
Desired Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)
- Graph & Data Arch: Neo4j knowledge graph design (dual-graph, Cypher, Aura, GraphRAG), ontology modeling (RDF/SHACL, SKOS, financial taxonomies), and conceptual/logical data contracts.
- DSL & Formal Methods: Designing and executing Domain-Specific Languages (grammar, validation, executors) and high-assurance formal methods (Alloy, TLA+).
- Security & Infrastructure: PBAC/RBAC, JWT, SAST hygiene, Snowflake (key-pair, schema sync), AWS EKS, Helm, and GitOps (ArgoCD).
- Multimodal AI: Voice pipelines (STT/TTS via Bedrock or OpenAI) and WebSocket-based advisory modalities.
- Docs & Automation: Diataxis framework, AGENTS.md hierarchies, and CI quality gates (Bandit, Radon, Angular commit conventions).
Desired Experience
- Regulated FinTech: A proven track record of productizing AI advisors in regulated financial environments, managing the critical flow: disclosure? capability refusal? human approval? compliance audit chain.
