Must Haves: 
  • High School diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred. 
  • 2 year’s experience (prefers 3-4) 
  • Insurance License (preferred or ability to obtain) 
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Must possess intermediate level computer skills including email, Microsoft Office products, spreadsheets, G-Suite products as well as the ability to learn custom program and partner company systems. 
  • Strong PNC experience ( Property Casualty)

Summary            A P&C Renewal Underwriter is responsible for reviewing an existing book of business to determine acceptability based on current underwriting guidelines with in-house binding markets as well as submit business to brokerage markets. The renewal underwriter will handle the entire renewal process by reviewing the existing account, updating the account information, rating, quoting, and binding. Underwriting integrity and profitability is an integral part of the placement process. 
  Essential Responsibilities 
  • Review existing books of business to determine acceptability based upon in-house binding authority company guidelines. Internal underwriting philosophies must be followed in order to maintain profitability which includes a deep understanding of coverage options and required form language. 
  • Properly rate and quote business using multiple carrier rating engines. 
  • Submit business accounts to brokerage (non-binding) markets for quoting. 
  • Serve as liaison between carrier and retail agents by working with carrier underwriters to determine pricing, coverage, and acceptability of risks and gather any additional information needed from retail agents. 
  • Manage the entire renewal process which includes but is not limited to: tracking expiration dates, assessing the risk, correcting any previous errors, updating rating information, rating, quoting, calling and binding. 
  • Provide all required issuance documents to internal staff, and company staff, for the policy to be issued in a timely manner. 
  • Effectively communicate (written/verbal) information to both internal staff and external customers to ensure standards of excellence are maintained. 
  • Assist retail agents with questions during the renewal process. 
  • Maintain a professional relationship with internal staff, retail agents and company underwriters via written communication, o-site travel and phone communication. 
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings. 
  • Perform other work-related duties as assigned
